Before I had the opportunity to see it for myself, I had always imagined Costa Rica as it was showed to us by Steven Spielberg in the infamous scene in Jurassic Park. In the opening scene, corrupt scientist (Dennis Nedry) is supposedly in San Jose, Costa Rica exchanging precious dinosaur DNA with another American scientist through a Barbosal can.
When in fact, Spielberg refused to film in Costa Rica (Even though the film in fact is based off a fictional island, “Isla Nublar”) The location is supposedly an Island located 35 miles west of Costa Rica. Now, because of how awful the road conditions were, supposedly Speilberg was worried that he and his camera crew’s equipment simply could not hang, so they instead changed locations and filmed on the beautiful island of Kauai. Well done, Steven.
